In case you hadn't heard, a bunch of emails were stolen from climatologists working on the global warming/climate change issue. I haven't done enough research to know whether the smoking gun will come in the form of cumulonimbus emails but...thats why I am posting links, which I am about to follow and investigate. What I do know is that anthropogenic climate change acting as a function in the futherance of global sustainability and eventually eugenics is disgusting, criminal, and completely antithetical to the purpose of humanity, whatever that may be. One thing I do know, is I do not exist for some bureaucrat to tell me how much meat to eat, how much carbon to exhale, how much energy to use, how many children to have, or what kind of car to drive. Stop distorting markets with your putrid "greenwash the economy" campaign, stop telling me what light bulbs to use, and you can keep believing in your elitest, scorched Earth enviro-fantasies, but that freedom stops at the end of my nose. Fuck cap and trade.

The swine flu pandemic has taken some intriguing turns, mutations into tamiflu-resistant strains, spreading like wildfire throughout the Ukranian pastures, and a continued media blitz to take your jab, stupid. But why take chances with a pandemic of epic proportions, to which I have no herd immunity, when the vaccine is so effective?
Whats in your vaccine?
Chris Shaw wasn’t always skeptical about vaccines. The neuroscientist at the University of British Columbia had his teenage son vaccinated with most of the recommended shots. But then he started studying some of the ingredients commonly found in vaccines.
What he discovered caused him to go cold turkey on all shots for his six-year-old daughter. And that includes the vaccine for the H1N1 flu.
“I am not convinced H1N1 is sufficiently hazardous to most people to risk the potential downside of the vaccine,” Shaw said over the phone from his office in the research pavilion at the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
Shaw isn’t an easily dismissed vaccine conspiracy theorist. He is a leading expert on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease) and Parkinson’s disease. While investigating unusually high rates of ALS and other neurological disorders among veterans who have Gulf War syndrome, he found evidence that the cause may have been aluminum salt, an ingredient in the cocktail of vaccines given to soldiers before deployment.
Although aluminum salt isn’t present in the H1N1 vaccine, Shaw’s discovery made him concerned about other vaccines, including the swine-flu shot. He isn’t alone in his thoughts.
Despite a full frontal assault of news about the dangers of the flu and the importance of vaccination, a survey in late October revealed that only 36 percent of Canadians said they would get the shot. Lack of trust in the vaccine was cited as the main reason for vaccine opposition. Another poll in November found that 65 percent of Canadians believe the media has overreacted to the threat of swine flu.

What interests me now when viewing the mass pandemic infections, is what Clyde Lewis was saying at the Ground Zero Lounge a few months ago. He spoke of 'cytokine storms' and how the h1n1 presents a real danger, by creating cytokine storms inside the lungs, literally drowning a human in its' own fluid. This needs more research, but I thought a decent place to start was googling 'H1N1 + cytokine storm' and it only found around 95,000 articles. Will post a few here for further consumption..

SARANAC LAKE, N.Y., May 6 (UPI) -- The H1N1 flu may be dangerous for healthy, young adults because it contains genetic
components of the H5N1 avian influenza virus, U.S. researchers say.
The flu contains genetic components of the H5N1 avian influenza virus, which can induce a "cytokine storm," in which a patient's hyperactivated immune system causes potentially fatal damage to the lungs.
David L. Woodland, editor in chief of Viral Immunology and president of Trudeau Institute Inc. in Saranac Lake, N.Y., says a cytokine storm occurs when the body's immune system overreacts to an intruder, such as a virus, by producing high levels of cytokines, which are signaling chemicals that help mobilize immune cells capable of removing infectious agents from the body.
When too many cytokines are produced, they can stimulate an inflammatory response in which the accumulation of immune cells and fluid at the site of infection may prevent affected tissues and organs such as the lungs from functioning properly and may cause death, Woodland says.
What is known is that some H1N1 viruses have pandemic potential and that historical evidence supports the possibility that healthy young adults may be especially susceptible to more severe infection and poor outcomes due to the ability of a strong immune system to initiate a cytokine storm, Woodland adds."

Cytokine Storm may be Cause of Swine Flu Pneumonia, Deaths

Submitted by Kathleen Blanchard RN on May 6th, 2009 Researchers say that H1N1 swine flu may be especially dangerous for young health adults because the H1N1 virus may cause a “cytokine storm” – a sudden release of inflammatory chemicals that prevent the lungs from functioning properly. Scientists, in reviewing cytokine storms in literature, wonder if high levels of cytokines cause so much inflammation when the H1N1 virus activates the immune system, that fluid and inflammation occur at the site of the infection, leading to pneumonia and death.

A concern about the H1N1 swine flu is the number of deaths that have occurred in young adults with healthy immune systems, perhaps because of cytokine storm. The same held true for the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic that also caused deaths in healthy young adults.
"We do not know how long ago this virus emerged, how deadly it is, whether it has pandemic potential, how the severity of infection relates to patient age, and why some infected patients die - whether a cytokine storm is responsible for these deaths," according to David L. Woodland, PhD, Editor-in Chief of Viral Immunology. Research articles about cytokine storm are published this month in the Viral Immunology Journal.
Dr. Woodland says we still have a lot to learn about the H1N1 swine flu virus. "We do not know how long ago this virus emerged, how deadly it is, whether it has pandemic potential, how the severity of infection relates to patient age, and why some infected patients die—whether a cytokine storm is responsible for these deaths."
The review of current literature suggests that cytokine storm is the cause of pneumonia and severe infections seen with H1N1 swine flu in young adults, based on past evidence. In the upcoming months, cytokine storm as the cause of severe illness related to H1N1 swine flu may become a research focus.

"Recent experience with a novel influenza virus shows that young, healthy individuals may have a higher risk for severe disease than the typical at-risk populations.

The elderly and the very young are usually at greatest risk of death from infections with influenza. Ostensibly, people in these age groups have less efficient immune systems and are therefore more likely to succumb to the initial viral pneumonia caused by seasonal flu; they are also less likely to survive the secondary bacterial infections that sometimes accompany influenza.
Some influenza viruses, however - the 1918 “Spanish flu” strain, H5N1 (otherwise known as “avian flu”), and now, apparently, 2009 H1N1 - elicit a hyperimmune response that places those with exuberant immune systems at greater risk for severe disease and death.
Health experts have coined the phrase “cytokine storm” to describe this exaggerated immune reaction.
A basic grasp of immune system function is useful for understanding this abnormally aggressive immune response.

Influenza and the Cytokine Storm

Whenever a particularly virulent organism enters the body (one that the immune system recognizes as exceptionally deadly or that possesses certain molecular characteristics) an abnormally vigorous response may ensue.
As this exuberant, all-or-none immune reaction proceeds, an outpouring of inflammatory cytokines occurs, and any tissues surrounding the “field of battle” experience collateral damage before regulatory mechanisms commence.
Because damaged tissues themselves are recognized by the immune system as foreign invaders, a cascading cycle of immune cell response, cytokine production, and immune cell recruitment begins.
If uncontrolled, such a cytokine storm occurring in vital organs can lead to organ failure and death.
Although medications and medical support are useful for dealing with the cytokine storm associated with infections by virulent organisms, the human immune system normally presents a very efficient challenge to foreign antigens. It is the immune system, after all, that allows humans to survive in a veritable soup of microorganisms that would otherwise reduce us to compost in short order.
Alas, the immune system can sometimes be indiscriminate in its efforts to eliminate perceived enemies. The cytokine storm is simply one manifestation of an unbridled immune response.

Batch of H1N1 vaccine pulled after bad reactions

More than 100,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine are being withdrawn across the country, after Manitoba health officials announced Thursday they'd noticed a higher-than-usual number of allergic reactions from one batch.
Vaccine manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline has asked several provinces to set aside the 170,000 doses from the questionable batch.
GSK say the batch recall is a precaution an they will investigate to see whether there is something wrong with the batch.
"GSK is taking this cautionary action because the Public Health Agency of Canada has received a higher than expected number of reports of anaphylaxis in this lot number compared to other lots," the company said in a written statement Thursday.
One or two allergic reactions are expected in a batch that size. But health officials recorded six severe allergic reactions and alerted GSK.
Dr. Joel Kettner, Manitoba's Chief Medical Officer of Health, urged people not to be alarmed, noting the anaphylaxis reactions were short-lived and all the patients recovered.
"We've been asked by the manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline not to use this vaccine at this time, pending further investigation," said Kettner at a press conference Thursday.
"We are being cautious and following the advice... to hold onto the remaining stock until we get further information."
About 1,500 doses of the vaccine were sent to Ontario, but officials say none were administered. Officials are now shelving them until the investigation is complete.
The Alberta government has stopped giving out doses from the same batch, although it says it has not seen a jump in allergic reactions.
Health officials say the batch being investigated is fairly small, so it should not have an impact on the overall supply.
Earlier this week, the country's chief public health officer, Dr. David Butler-Jones, noted that of the 6.6 million doses of H1N1 vaccine given so far to Canadians, there have been 36 serious adverse reactions reported.

"Another police fishing expedition has been fought successfully over the course of the past year by one of the Indymedia.us server admins and the good folks at the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), largely in secret due to dodgy gag orders (which actually didn't have any real legal standing to begin with).

Can the U.S. government secretly subpoena the IP address of every visitor to a political website? No, but that didn't stop it from trying.
In a report released today, EFF Senior Staff Attorney Kevin Bankston tells the story of a bogus federal subpoena issued to independent news site Indymedia.us, and how the site fought back with EFF’s help. Declan McCullagh at CBSNews.com also has the story.
The report describes how, earlier this year, U.S. attorneys issued a federal grand jury subpoena to Indymedia.us administrator Kristina Clair demanding “all IP traffic to and from www.indymedia.us" for a particular date, potentially identifying every person who visited any news story on the Indymedia site. As the report explains, this overbroad demand for internet records not only violated federal privacy law but also violated Clair’s First Amendment rights, by ordering her not to disclose the existence of the subpoena without a U.S. attorney’s permission.
Because Indymedia follows EFF’s Best Practices for Online Service Providers and does not keep historical IP logs, there was no information for Indymedia to hand over, and the government withdrew the subpoena. However, as the report describes, that wasn’t the end of the tale: Ms. Clair wanted EFF to be able to tell the story of the subpoena and shine a light on the government’s illegal demand, yet the subpoena ordered silence. Under pressure from EFF, the government admitted that the subpoena’s gag order had no legal basis, and ultimately chose not to go to court to try to force Ms. Clair’s silence despite earlier threats to do so."

"On Monday, Al Jazeera reported that a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban said the group accepted responsibility for only some of the recent suicide bombings in Pakistan, laying the blame for others, including a deadly attack on a market last month that killed more than 100 civilians, on the American security firm formerly known as Blackwater. The spokesman claimed that the firm, now called Xe, was involved in an attempt to discredit the militants by staging deadly attacks.

This video report from Al Jazeera includes shots of of Azam Tariq, a spokesman for the broad alliance of Pakistani militant groups known as the Tehrik-i-Taliban, saying, “I want to tell the people in Pakistan and the Muslim nation that the Tehrik-i-Taliban are not responsible for the bombings, but Blackwater and Pakistan’s spy agency are behind them.”

Probably just a straightforward propaganda effort, but delicious nonetheless.

Michael Taylor has been hired to advise Margaret Hamburg, the FDA's commissioner of food and drugs. In his new position, Taylor will also work with the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, the Center for Veterinary Medicine, the Office of Regulatory Affairs, Congress and the White House.
Taylor's FDA career began in 1976, when he served as an attorney for the agency. From 1981 to 1991, Taylor functioned as a private attorney and lobbyist. During this time period, he wrote numerous articles criticizing the 1958 Delaney Clause, which prohibited known carcinogens from being introduced into the food supply. A number of chemical and pesticide companies had long been critical of the law, including agrochemical and genetic engineering giant Monsanto Corporation. At this time, Taylor remained an outspoken opponent of the Delaney Clause. The law was repealed in 1996. He is also widely viewed as instrumental in securing agency approval for Monsanto's recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), an artificial hormone that is used to increase milk production in cattle. After leaving the FDA, Taylor served as Monsanto's vice president for public policy from 1998 to 2000.

HPV Shot Requirement Dropped for Immigrants

"DALLAS -- Immigrant girls and women will no longer have to be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted virus to get their green cards.
Starting Dec. 14, the human papillomavirus vaccine will no longer be on the list of immunizations immigrant females ages 11 to 26 must receive before becoming legal permanent residents.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made the change on Friday. In a Federal Register entry, the CDC said it will require immunizations for which there is a public health need at the time the person immigrates or changes their status to green-card holder.
"More than half of the immigrants who come to the U.S. seeking opportunity are women," Silvia Henriquez, executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, said in a statement. "We thank the CDC for restoring their dignity and reproductive justice."
Girls and women seeking to become legal permanent U.S. residents were required to get at least the first dose of the HPV vaccine, which protects against some strains of the virus blamed for cervical cancer. It was added to the list of required vaccinations for immigrants in July 2008.
Soon after, a coalition of more than 100 immigrant, health and women's advocacy groups challenged the requirement, saying it was unfair to require the HPV vaccine for immigrants but not for most U.S. citizens.
Attempts to require the vaccine for American girls has brought emotional debate and complaints that such mandates intrude on family decisions about sex education. In Texas, lawmakers fought off a 2007 order by Gov. Rick Perry requiring the shots for sixth-grade girls amid questions about vaccine's safety, efficacy and cost."

"US President Barack Obama came to office promising hope and change. But on climate change, he has followed in the footsteps of his predecessor, George W. Bush. Now, should the climate summit in Copenhagen fail, the blame will lie squarely with Obama.

The folder labeled "climate change" that George W. Bush left behind for his successor on the desk of the Oval Office in January likely wasn't a thick one. Although Bush once said that America is overly dependent on oil, he never got beyond that insight. He was too busy waging war on Iraq and searching for a legal basis for extraordinary renditions to pay much attention to the real threat facing humanity. "Forget the climate" seems to have been Bush's unofficial motto.
But few people expected that Barack Obama, of all people, would continue his predecessor's climate change plan. "Tens of thousands of Amazonians are suing Chevron, the American oil company, for poisoning their waterways in what is billed as one of the biggest environmental cases in history.
The Ecuadorean claimants said the company illegally dumped toxic waste from its oil production, which filtered into the lakes used by thousands of people for washing and drinking.
The result, they claimed, was one of the worst environmental disasters in history, which led to a public health crisis with rising levels of cancer, birth defects and miscarriages.
Some 30,000 Amazonians are behind a case to be heard by an Ecuadorean judge. Experts said the company might have to pay damages of up to $US27 billion ($29 billion).
The company said there was no proof that any illnesses were caused by its operations. It said the responsibility for cleaning the area lay with the Ecuadorean government and Petroecuador, the state oil company."

Deadly Flu spreads across Ukraine

"There are many aspects to this story. It is impossible to know where to begin -- let alone cover all the pertinent facts in just one article. Those who have followed my Zerohedge columns in the past may be aware the subject of pandemic influenza has been a regular feature, precisely because there have been multiple signs indicating a global pandemic would be exploited (and perhaps even initiated) by governments and international banks for political purposes.

The signs have been building, including as I previously reported, forced quarantine orders inadvertently published by the CDC. What do these people know which the public does not?
Over the past two weeks, what appears to be a particularly virulent form of the flu has been spreading in Ukraine and adjacent Eastern European countries. This new flu is, in my opinion, a lethal new strain which has mutated (or was released). I speak with a background in virology. This new mutated flu virus appears to have a remarkable affinity for the lungs and is causing deaths to a much higher extent than the previous swine flu. Something in the virus has changed. I have covered this incredibly important story for two weeks now in my weekly column This Week In Mayhem, which is generally published on Monday mornings."

International Health Regulations 2005, a primer

I read on Fight Back H1N1 that "Ukraine is the first country to come under the control of the WHO and the UN under the International Health Regulations 2005, and the reality is that Yuschenko and his Prime Minister Julia Timoschenko are just carrying out the orders from WHO and the UN when they suspend civic rights and democracy under the pretext of fighting a pandemic emergency" I decided to do some digging into these documents myself. I enjoy how the global governance apparatus publishes their manure for our collective consumption(or more accurately, non-consumption for people who don't give a shit). Not pointing any fingers here, I am as uninformed as the next joe douche bag, but I have an inquiring mind. Posted for all consumption as necessario.

"With the support of WHO, the 194 States Parties to the International Health Regulations (IHR) have been implementing these global rules to enhance national, regional and global public health security.
Key milestones for countries include the assessment of their surveillance and response capacities by June 2009 and the development and implementation of plans of action to ensure that these core capacities are functioning by 2012."

Global government masters, what ARE these regulations?
Q: What are the International Health Regulations?
A: The International Health Regulations (IHR) are an international legal instrument that is binding on 194 countries across the globe, including all the Member States of WHO. Their aim is to help the international community prevent and respond to acute public health risks that have the potential to cross borders and threaten people worldwide.
In the globalized world, diseases can spread far and wide via international travel and trade. A health crisis in one country can impact livelihoods and economies in many parts of the world. Such crises can result from emerging infections like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), or a new human influenza pandemic. The IHR can also apply to other public health emergencies such as chemical spills, leaks and dumping, or nuclear melt-downs. The IHR aim to limit interference with international traffic and trade while ensuring public health through the prevention of disease spread.
The IHR, which entered into force on 15 June 2007, require countries to report certain disease outbreaks and public health events to WHO. Building on the unique experience of WHO in global disease surveillance, alert and response, the IHR define the rights and obligations of countries to report public health events, and establish a number of procedures that WHO must follow in its work to uphold global public health security.
The IHR also require countries to strengthen their existing capacities for public health surveillance and response. WHO is working closely with countries and partners to provide technical guidance and support to mobilize the resources needed to implement the new rules in an effective and timely manner. Timely and open reporting of public health events will help make the world more secure."

Ok all is well and good so far, I suppose. From what I can tell, this web page was created/posted in April 2008, quite poignant eh?

Interesting notes from the "Director-General Statement following the fifth meeting of the Emergency Committee": "The Emergency Committee held its fifth meeting, via e-mail, concluding on 23 September 2009.
The Committee considered a proposal from the WHO Director-General regarding the continuation of three temporary recommendations issued under the IHR with respect to the on-going public health emergency of international concern. There was a consensus on continuing the three temporary recommendations proposed by the Director-General.
Having considered the views of the Emergency Committee, and the ongoing pandemic situation, the Director-General determined it was appropriate to continue these temporary recommendations, namely:

countries should not close borders or restrict international traffic and trade;
intensify surveillance of unusual flu-like illness & severe pneumonia; and
if ill, it is prudent to delay international travel -- if ill after travel seek care."

It strikes me as odd that Swine-Eleven occurs and runs to level 6 worldwide pandemic proportions, enough to warrant waiving FDA regulations for the hastened pace of vaccine production, yet level 6 is not enough to restrict any international traffic or trade. Not saying that I advocate this, just interesting to note. One other oddity, the crazy pig influenza attacks and spreads, and the CDC decides to stop reporting on infection numbers? Will it "overwhelm" the testing systems and structures? Give me two breaks, please.

Now, the fightbackH1N1 site has listed some inflamatory statements, which may or may not be accurate about Ukraine cracking down on political opponents. We shall see if the WHO regulations come into effect.

Global challenges need global solutions and these can only come with the right global governance, which today, twenty years later, remains too weak.

And yet there is a place on earth where new forms of global governance have been tried following World War II: in Europe. More than half a century ago Jean Monet said: “the sovereign nations of the past can no longer provide a framework for the resolution of our present problems: And the European Community itself is no more than a step towards the organizational forms of tomorrow’s world”. This was as valid then as it is now.

Governance to which end?

What do I mean by global governance? For me global governance describes the system we set up to assist human society to achieve its common purpose in a sustainable manner, that is, with equity and justice. Growing interdependence requires that our laws, our social norms and values, our mechanisms for framing human behaviour be examined, debated, understood and operated together as coherently as possible. This is what would provide the basis for effective sustainable development in its economic, social and environmental dimensions.

Whether public or private, governance needs to provide leadership, the incarnation of vision, of political energy, of drive.

It also needs to provide legitimacy, which is essential to ensure ownership over decisions which lead to change. Ownership to prevent the in-built bias towards resistance to modify the status quo"

People on a local news website message board are in constant disbelief about the shortages of the vaccine, decrying the unpreparedness of the government to deal with this "pandemic". One reason for Utah's shortage is that they simply did not even order enough vaccine to cover 10% of the population, so they are enacting creative ways such as "making reservations" to come get your jab. I can't wait. This idea did strike me though, that creating artificial scarcity can induce demand.. Simple economics, and you can see it in action with energy resources daily. New York abandons swine flu vaccine mandate for health care workers, blames vaccine shortage

"(NaturalNews) New York State Health Commissioner Richard F. Daines announced today that public health workers will no longer be required to receive swine flu vaccinations. The state had been sued by the Public Employees Federation to stop the vaccine mandate, and a state judge had granted the group a temporary restraining order against mandatory vaccine injections (http://www.naturalnews.com/027259_h...). The follow-up hearing was scheduled for October 30 to determine whether the temporary restraining order would be overruled.

The New York Dept. of Health had vowed to fight the restraining order and force all health care workers to be vaccinated, even against their will. Those refusing to be vaccinated faced losing their jobs or being denied pay increases.

The decision to abandon the swine flu vaccine mandate had nothing to do with the debate over the vaccination of health care workers, claims Richard Daines. Instead, he says, it was all caused by the shortage of vaccines. While the CDC had promised states that 120 million doses of swine flu vaccine would be available by the end of October, the reality is that thanks to vaccine production failures, only about 28 million doses will be available (roughly one-fourth the original estimate).

"The CDC acknowledged that New York would only receive approximately 23 percent of its anticipated vaccine supply," Gov. David Paterson said in a story published by CNN. "As a result, we need to be as resourceful as we can with the limited supplies of vaccine currently coming into the state."

As the article states, this stoppage of mandatory vaccination is for the wrong reasons, but this is still notable. With talk of other states drafting mandatory vaccination legislation, this warrants mention.

Chief scientist says it would be 'unwise' not to develop GM crops in Britain

"Professor John Beddington said the world will have to produce 50 per cent more food by 2030 in order to feed the growing population. He said the only way to do this is to grow more crops on less land by using the latest scientific innovation, including crops genetically modified to be drought or disease resistant.

Bill Granting FDA New Powers To Oversee Nation's Food Supply Gets Broad Support
"Legislation granting the Food and Drug Administration new powers to oversee the nation's food supply has elbowed its way onto Congress' crammed calendar with bipartisan support and rare agreement between consumer groups and an industry stung by product recalls.

The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), would require the FDA to step up inspections of food facilities and to issue new rules to improve the quality of imported food and to combat contaminants in fresh produce. The measure also would give the agency authority to recall products on its own, instead of relying on industry cooperation.

"Hardly a week goes by that there isn't a report of an outbreak of food-borne illness or death in America," Durbin said. "The current system really just reacts to food illness. We have to have a system that is protective of consumers" by preventing outbreaks or nipping them in the bud.

Bailout May Cost $23.7 Trillion: Barofsky

"WASHINGTON - The federal government has devoted $4.7 trillion to help the financial sector through its crisis, a level of assistance equal to about one-third of the overall U.S. economy, a watchdog report said Monday.

Under the worst of circumstances, the report said, the government's maximum exposure could total nearly $24 trillion, or $80,000 for every American.

The figures are part of a tough new quarterly report to Congress from special inspector general Neil Barofsky, who accuses the Treasury Department of repeatedly failing to adopt recommendations aimed at making one component of the government financial rescue effort more accountable and transparent.

The $4.7 trillion commitment to the industry takes into account about 50 initiatives and programs set up since 2007 by the Bush and Obama administrations as well as by the Federal Reserve. Barofsky oversees one of the initiatives -- the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Much of the government assistance is backed by collateral and Barofsky's $23.7 trillion estimate represents the gross, not net, exposure that the government could face."

The analysis of this paper suggests that recent credit market prices are actually highly consistent with fundamentals. A structural framework confirms that bonds and credit derivatives should have experienced a significant repricing in 2008 as the economic outlook darkened and volatility increased. The analysis also confirms that severe mispricing existed in the structured credit tranches prior to the crisis and that a large part of the dramatic rise in spreads has been the elimination of this mispricing.

In short, the toxic assets clogging up the banks are worthless, and not, as Geithner believes, stuck at a depressed value due to our lousy economic climate. This is a problem because Geithner’s entire bank rescue plan hinges on the notion that these assets are worth something. If that notion is wrong, then the plan will, at best, “simply fizzle,” and at worst, be a very expensive subsidy to savvy investors that does nothing to relieve banks of their toxic waste.
Like Nouriel Roubini, Coval, Stafford, and Jurek believe that “many major US banks are now legitimately insolvent.” Therefore, they write, “any taxpayer dollars allocated to supporting these [toxic asset] markets will simply transfer wealth to the current owners of these securities”:

To the extent that these assets reside in banks that are now insolvent, the owners are essentially the bondholders of these banks. The reason their bonds are currently trading far below par is that the assets backing up their claim are just not worth enough (nor expected to become worth enough when their bonds mature) to repay them. And so while they will be cheered by any government overpayment for the toxic assets backing up their claims, their happiness will be at the taxpayer’s expense since, to the extent that current prices are fair, they will be receiving more than fair value for their investments.

Having dispelled any accusations of partisan prejudices, allow me to provide a brief overview of Holdren’s résumé. In 1977, Holdren co-authored Ecoscience with Paul and Anne Ehrlich. Of course, Paul Ehrlich was the environmental scientist who published The Population Bomb in 1968.
This hyperbolic collection of demographic doomsday prophecies foolhardily predicted, “The battle to feed humanity is over. In the 1970s, the world will undergo famines. Hundreds of millions of people are going to starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now.”

Malthus’ genocidal policies specifically targeted the poor. Through the promotion of hygienically unsound practices amongst impoverished populations, Malthus believed that the “undesirable elements” of the human herd could be naturally culled by various maladies. The spread of disease could be further assisted through discriminative vaccination and zoning programs. Worse still, Malthus promoted infanticide for illegitimate children, a practice that is still advocated by many bioethicists today. Peter Singer is one case in point. Ominously enough, Singer recently argued for the rationing of health care in a New York Times editorial.
Ehrlich’s prescriptions for the alleged “population bomb” were equally draconian. They included “compulsory birth regulation… (through) the addition of temporary sterilants to water supplies or staple food. Doses of the antidote would be carefully rationed by the government to produce the desired family size.”

Government to get special swine flu vaccine

"Just a week after it emerged that the German armed forces was getting a different kind of A/H1N1 vaccine to the general population, Der Spiegel magazine reports that the government will also get special treatment.

The general population will be offered the GlaxoSmithKline vaccine, called Pandemrix, which contains a new booster element, or adjuvant, as well as a preservative containing mercury.
Controversy has grown around the rapid licensing of the GSK vaccine – and a similar one being made by Novartis. Critics said not enough testing had been conducted before European licensing authorities rushed an approval.

Chancellor Angela Merkel, her cabinet members and ministry civil servants as well as those working for other agencies will get Celvapan, produced by US firm Baxter, which does not have the adjuvant or the preservative, according to Der Spiegel.

It is thought the adjuvant may lead to a stronger reaction in the patient – which to a certain degree is the point, meaning the vaccine can contain less of the virus yet still provoke the crucial immune system reaction.

But this is also what some say is the additional risk – and has led to stocks of the traditional kind of vaccine being bought in for pregnant women and young children.

Celvapan does not contain the adjuvant or the preservative. Rather, it contains entire dead viruses rather than the pieces which are in the traditional vaccine. The Baxter version is the one being given to the armed forces, as well as being made available for pregnant women and children.
It seems now that ministers and civil servants are to be included in that category."

I always get lost in simple logic problems. Thimerosol and adjuvants like squalene are safe, but thimerosol was only allowed to be included in this vaccine under some kind of FDA emergency approval, JUST for the swine flu vaccine. They are totally safe, yet have been phased out except for the swine flu, and even though they are safe, some are getting a 'cleaner' vaccine. If all these additives are safe, why were they first outlawed, and why are certain factions escaping these totally safe additives?

Nurses got sick from the "swine flu" vaccine in Sweden • UPDATE - 1 suspected death

Yesterday 30 people had been reporting to the authorities in Sweden that they experienced such severe side effects that they felt the need to contact a hospital. Today the number is 140. The swedish newspaper Expressen is the only one in Sweden reporting on these cases and as usual this is most likely only the tip of a rather large iceberg. UPDATE: According to Dagens Nyheter, the number of reported side effects are now a few hours later 190. 1 person dies after the injection but "no direct relation with the injection has been established". The biggest medical scandal in the history of Sweden has just started.

Even so, Annika Linde, director of The Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control (SMI) manages to spin this into something positive by stating "The vaccine has more side effects than the normal flu vaccine. It is a sign that proves that it gives an effective protection."

Thousands of Swedes have been vaccinated so far and the reports of side effects are "flooding in" to The Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control (SMI). Annika Linde: "It is obviously so that the vaccine against the swine flu results in more side effects than the normal flu vaccines. That is because the swine flu vaccine contains adjuvants, shark liver oil, which triggers the immune defense to respond. That also results in that the protection against the virus becomes better."

Several severe cases of allergic reactions are reported to the unit for medicinal safety. "So far the reported side effects are not unexpected", says Gunilla Sjölin Forsberg. This unit has now asked some of the many units that vaccinate to report side effects to better get a grip on the situation. This statement alone is shocking since according to normal practice, all side effects should automatically be reported - right?

A nurse who took the shot on wednesday last week is still feeling sick. She got high fever and shivers from the swine flu shot. "-I was shaking in my whole body. It was so sever that I could not even hold a glass of water in my hand.", Lotta Lindström says.

Iran agrees 'in principle' to compromise on nuclear programme
"The breakthrough came after a day of talks in Geneva between Iran’s top nuclear negotiator and the United States, Britain, Russia, China, France and Germany. In a sign that Tehran is eager to show more flexibility after a period of heightened tensions, Iran indicated that it would also allow international inspectors to visit its recently revealed second uranium enrichment plant “within weeks”.

After a long diplomatic chill, it agreed to a tight timetable of talks with the same six powers designed to get a far-reaching diplomatic solution in place by the end of the year.

Speaking in Washington, President Obama called the talks “a constructive beginning” but said hard work lay ahead.

“Talk is no substitute for action,” he added, saying sanctions remained an option if Iran did not fulfill its promises. "Iran must demonstrate through concrete steps that it will live up to its responsibilities.”
Although the details still needs to be hammered out, Javier Solana, the EU’s top foreign policy official, said Iran had agreed “in principle” to export most of its enriched uranium stockpile to Russia for further enrichment.
The uranium would then be sent to France for further processing and then returned to Iran. People familiar with the issue said the process would make it extremely difficult for Iran to use the uranium for bomb-making purposes, setting back its alleged weapons programme"

I haven't been around the political scene that long, but have already learned the skill of retaining a healthy negativity about prospects for peace, so I am not under total delusions that this will equal peace with Iran and not war, but it has been one of the key issues in regards to Iran's nuclear program, and a way for Iran to maintain its responsibility and rights under the NPT, while also semi-placating the somewhat irrational fears of Iran's non-existent weapons program. Many believe this regime is duplicitous, so I suppose we shall find out.

Grassley here is taking a page out of yours truly Reflux The Chemist's playbook, attempting to destroy propaganda efforts. The hubris located within this statement is sort of blinding..but worthy anyway.

"Senate Finance ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is raising concerns that a Department of Health and Human Services Web site that urges visitors to send an e-mail to President Barack Obama praising his health care reform plan may violate rules against government-funded propaganda.

The Web page is accessed through a “state your support” button featured prominently on the HHS Web site and carries a disclaimer that the Web site is maintained by HHS.

This definitely warrants a laugh. Although in some respects I can understand what he is saying, it is comical nonetheless, and also sad in that it discredits what I think are valid questions about vaccinations, or at least this vaccination campaign...

"The 76-year-old Louis Farrakhan, speaking for nearly three hours to a religious group on the 14th anniversary of the Million Man March in Washington, believes the H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccination is nothing more than a guise to depopulate the Earth, according to United Press International.

“The Earth can't take 6.5 billion people. We just can't feed that many. So what are you going to do? Kill as many as you can. We have to develop a science that kills them and makes it look as though they died from some disease." According to Fox News, Farrakhan said that wise people will not take the vaccine. A poll released last month showed that two-thirds of American parents will either delay giving their child the vaccine or just not give them the shots at all. Another survey that was released earlier this month shows that 40 per cent of Americans will not get the vaccine"

Another side note here.. This statement is sort of contradictory, because Farrakhan assumes as valid the malthusian premise that the Earth has a finite carrying capacity, and further, that it is basically reached after "6.5 billion people". Surely the Earth could not carry an infinite amount of people, but I don't believe we have yet reached that point, and who knows what the actual carrying capacity would be if we actually got serious about food production, and not serious in the sense that we frankenstein the crop and splice its genes... word!

U.S. advisers decline to push Gardasil for boys

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. vaccine advisers declined to press for the use of Merck & Co's Gardasil in boys and men, opting instead on Wednesday to simply advise doctors they are free to use it.

Despite some impassioned pleas from patients and doctors alike, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted almost unanimously for "permissive" use of the vaccine for boys. It protects against the human papillomavirus, or HPV, which causes a variety of cancers and genital warts.

But the committee did recommend including Gardasil for eligible boys aged 9 to 18 in the Vaccines For Children program, a government-funded system that provides vaccines to children eligible for the state-federal Medicaid health insurance plan and other uninsured children.

Merck's shares were down 1.7 percent at $33.16 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently recommends Gardasil for girls 11 and 12 years old and women 13 to 26 who have not been vaccinated."

This is interesting that the 'vaccine advisers' won't push for this vaccine, I don't really understand why...vaccines are awesome!

Hoyer Says Constitution’s ‘General Welfare’ Clause Empowers Congress to Order Americans to Buy Health Insurance via Blacklistednews

"House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that the individual health insurance mandates included in every health reform bill, which require Americans to have insurance, were “like paying taxes.” He added that Congress has “broad authority” to force Americans to purchase other things as well, so long as it was trying to promote “the general welfare.”

The Congressional Budget Office, however, has stated in the past that a mandate forcing Americans to buy health insurance would be an “unprecedented form of federal action,” and that the “government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States.”

Hoyer, speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing on Tuesday, was asked by CNSNews.com where in the Constitution was Congress granted the power to mandate that a person must by a health insurance policy. Hoyer said that, in providing for the general welfare, Congress had “broad authority.”

I wonder if the general welfare clause includes forcing toxic garbage assets upon United Stations, and charging a non-governmental institution to counterfeit greenbacks, but hey, I'm no constitutional lawyer like Soetoro..I guess if I was, it would lead me to support and continue totally unconstitutional laws.I love(not really) bizarro world!
